Hospitality Room

As a community we have always dreamed of literally embodying the core commitment of hospitality by providing space for a family or person in need or transition. Over the last few months we’ve heard the greater and greater call and need for both the spirit and the practice of hospitality in our world. WIth today's political climate and daily reality for our neighbors, we are excited to finally have ready the physical space to host a person or family. This is the last living space in the house, and we’ve spent the last couple of months renovating it from the state of disrepair it was in. The space is shown below: It’s compact,,but there is a basic kitchen and bathroom as well as the a small open room.

Outside of the literal space, our community is working to be more hospitable in other ways: One is working with New Sanctuary Movement (NSM) to be trained in their Sanctuary in the Streets program, to support families facing pressure from ICE and possible deportation. Some of our community members have been very in NSM, including accompanying families in deportation hearing.

While we are carefully and prayerfully discerning what kind of hospitality we can offer and how we can make an impact in our scattered lives, we are excited at this opportunity to deepen our work in the world around us.
