House Update November

An update on life at our Vine and Fig Tree compound in Germantown:

We are in the midst of repair work on the third floor. Things are moving fast and smoothly. The main rehab is just about done, and we will start painting and getting the apartment ready for habitation. (Let us know if you want to help come paint!)

Lots happening and progressing. As the chill of fall deepens, we are winding down the growing season – though still lots of squash, kale, herbs, and other good stuff. The chickens are laying eggs. We still yet a lot to do as the cold moves in and soon we will have a work day to finish up the yard work that still needs to be done.

As a community we're meeting, sharing meals, having community prayer. The night before Halloween, we had a pumpkin carving night with some amazing creation coming out of that!

We're still slowly getting rid of the massive amount of stuff that we inherited when we purchased the house – housewares, clothes and shoes, some furniture, books and records, all kinds of interesting kitsch and even valuable stuff. You can find us in Olde City every First Friday with a table full of wares, and also you should look out for a sale at the house coming soon. Still lots of great stuff!

We're all thankful and hopeful for this fall season and what it will bring! And we are grateful for all of you who have helped us get this far in rehabbing the house and getting our community life off to a good start. So it is fitting that we want to celebrate with you – we are having a fall Harvest Party this coming Saturday, November 4, starting around 5:00 pm. You’re welcome to join us for some good food and drink, some music and games, and general festivities. We hope to see you there!

- Luke & Will
